Differences between CBSE Board and ICSE Board

  1. Medium of Examinations: The only examination medium in ICSE is English. In contrast to CBSE, where examinations can be given in either English or Hindi.
  2. Result Scheme: The CBSE results only show the students’ grades. ICSE, on the other hand, issues two result sheets, one of which lists the grades and the other the student’s marks.
  3. Type of Syllabus: Both have very different syllabuses. The ICSE / ISC syllabus is generally thought to be more difficult for students than the CBSE syllabus, since the ICSE syllabus is based on an international education framework. Students of CBSE schools had a stronger interest in science and mathematics. In addition, the board strives to strike a balance between science, the sciences, and the humanities. Meanwhile, the ICSE curriculum emphasises language, humanities, and scientific subjects.
  4. Recognition:The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is the highest education board in India and other countries, affiliating public and private schools. According to the New Education Policy of 1986, the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education is a general education examination.
  5. Pattern of Teaching: ICSE is a School Certificate Examination, whereas CBSE is a Board. After the tenth grade, ICSE is replaced by ISC (Indian School Certificate). ICSE has the Council of Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), which is a private/non-governmental board of education, as opposed to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
  6. Marking Scheme: The grading scheme for the ICSE class 10 board exams is divided into three categories. There are three groups: Group 1, which includes all compulsory subjects, Group 2, which allows students to pick any two subjects, and Group 3, which requires students to choose only one subject. Externals account for around 80% of the board’s labelling scheme for both Group 1 and Group 2 subjects, with 20% coming from internal sources.
