AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF THE SCHOOL

The school has been founded by the Brothers of St. Patrick, whose India’s and abroad educational institutions are appreciated.
They consider that the most important thing of the educational system is the formation of the character, so great stress is laid upon this. Catholic pupils have to follow certain religious instructions and the other people are given the value based education. The school has maintained the time-table for the students in such a way so that they get proper training in games and physical activities also.
The school organize various competitions like debates, elocution, quiz, dance, music etc.
With the education, the school also take care of their physical development as they provide different games facilities like football, cricket, hockey, basketball, throwball, tennis, badminton, table tennis etc. to increase the strength of the students. Special training are given to students in physical education period and after school hours.
It is compulsory for the eligible or talented students in sports to be present in ground for the regular practice. Irregularity of which will leads to as irresponsible candidate.
Students are given the opportunity to fulfill their hobbies.

Facilities

Facilities provided by the school are as follows-

Laboratories

Computer Labs The School has divided the computer labs into three sections like a junior, middle, and senior schools which accommodate more than 50 students. The labs are well-maintained with printers and whiteboards, software and hardware. The systems are checked regularly so to prevent any kind of disruptions. The students are allowed to make presentations and software for the school activities.

English Language LabThe school has provided this facility to the students of class 3rd to 9th. It can accommodate 50 students. They have given proper desktops, headsets, and microphones. The school provides this facility to improve the vocabulary and speaking skills of each student.

Biology Lab The school has a well-equipped lab which contains the working platforms, water supply, and work stool facility. It deals with the Microbiology, Cell Studies, Environmental Science, etc. It accommodates 50 students at a time. The lab contains 100 scientific charts, microscopes, live-species, and models. They are displayed in glass-cupboards and soft boards. The labs are maintained by the trained staffs.

Physics Lab The labs can accommodate 70-80 students where they can learn through practical experiments, teamwork, and sharing of ideas.

Chemistry Lab The Chemistry lab of the school is one of the biggest labs of the Dehradun where 80 experiments can be performed simultaneously. Students are taught by the well-experienced faculty members by taking proper safety measures.

Sports

The school provides the sports facility along with the studies to maintain their strength. They give the chance to enjoy their life. They also celebrate the Sports day with various events. They make students to participate in various competitions. The school feels proud as they have produced famous athletes and sportsperson. They say, “All work and no play make Jack a dull boy”
Library

The school has two libraries- one for the junior section for class 1-5 and other for the senior section for class 6-12. It contains the variety of collection of books, novels, journals, and magazines. The books are updated from time to time. It is maintained by the experienced staff.
Digital classroom

This facility of Digital classrooms has been given to the 73 classrooms. Through this, both teachers and students are updated with the latest methods, techniques. It gets easier for the students to understand the things easily.
Auditorium

The Auditorium was built in the year 1984 which was inaugurated by Late Mother Teresa. Various events like functions, seminars, conferences, social meetings etc. are held in the auditorium and it can accommodate more than 1200 students. Matches like Badminton are also held in the auditorium.
A-V Room

The audiovisual room of the school can accommodate 150 people. Various activities like powerpoint presentations, seminars, plays etc. are held here.
Infirmary

The school takes care of the student’s health as they have an infirmary in the premises which contains all types of medicines and provide facilities to students under emergency conditions.
Canteen

The school canteen is named by the students as ‘Café 10’. It provides the hygienic and fresh foods and drinks to the students in their break time.
Children Park

The school premises have children park for the students, especially for the junior ones.

St. Joseph’s Academy was established on 2nd March 1934 by the Patrician Brothers. It is affiliated to ICSE and ICE. It is spread over an area of 17 acres.
The school began with the strength of only 15 students and 7 staff members where Bro. Adrian Keogh was the first principal of the school. At present the strength of the school is 3850 with 140 teachers and 60 as a supportive staff. The school has been grown with new facilities. In year 1959, the school celebrated its Silver Jubilee, in 1984 its Golden Jubilee and in 2009 its Platinum Jubilee.
