Co-Curricular Activities

ARTS
The school aims to bring together the best of Varanasi’s indigenous talent with a reputable group of artists from venerable organisations such as Shanti Niketan. We bring in Resource Persons from universities and industries in the areas of performing arts, music, films and plays, and handcrafts from time to time. Students are encouraged to express their emotions via painting, giving them a new avenue.

SPORTS
An active mind cannot be sustained by a dull body. The RBS campus’s basic setting encourages physical activity, whether it’s through long treks to class through lush foliage or a walk along the Ganga’s k-trail. Every day begins with a morning workout, followed by a more intense workout in the evening. The emphasis is on intensity rather than winning the race; each youngster should compete to the best of his or her ability. Football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, and tennis are all available at the institution. They occasionally enlist the help of Resource Persons to give expert coaching. Our rural school participates in an annual event hosted by the school.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
The RBS campus is endured with opportunities for students to be exposed to the rural ways of living, farms, and dairy. The students also co-participate in sports events with the rural schools and collaborate with them on joint projects. The school grows organic grains, vegetables, pulses, and dairy feed on our fertile land of about 80 acres close to Ganga. Children visit the farms regularly along with our farmers and teachers to understand agriculture. They also work from time to time in our dairy where the school owns about 80 cows supplying high-quality milk for the entire school. They are expanding our rural engagement model in partnership with NGOs that will provide a rich experience to our students.

FIELD TRIPS
Field trips are a key part of our teaching, with each class selecting unique learning objectives that are age-appropriate. Students get experiences such as using public transportation, living frugally, and engaging with people from many walks of life through these activities. The trips are meticulously arranged to ensure that students set learning goals, receive direct experience in an unfamiliar area, engage socially, and track their progress.

NGOs such as Development Alternatives, Navdanya, Barefoot College, and Tarun Bharat Sangh have conducted field trips for children in the last year. Local tours to Varanasi events such as music festivals, art galleries, labs, and sites are also organised on a regular basis by the school. Children look forward to weekend cycle vacations because they blend sports and enjoyment.

The Krishnamurti schools are established with the aim to bring about a major shift in human consciousness. Schools strive to awaken intelligence and sensitivity in children in a non-competitive culture while imparting academic excellence. Krishnamurti established the Rajghat Education Centre (REC) in 1928, facing the confluence of the rivers Varuna and Ganga on the outskirts of Varanasi, the ancient pilgrimage city. The boarding school operates in accordance with Krishnamurti’s teachings and pedagogical vision. The Rajghat Besant School, Vasanta College for Women, Krishnamurti Study Centre, and rural communities that provide community services make up the Centre.
