Amatir Kanya Gurukul

Vision:

To create an environment that enables the building of a self-aware, autonomous, happy, and successful human being.

Mission:

Create truly Empowered Girl Child and Create Options for Mainstream and Alternative Careers.

Environment:

At Amatir, we try to create an environment conducive to progressive learning. It is a state, a location, or an environment in which a living entity – teachers, children, plants, and habitat – develops. A matrix that allows consciousness, learning, and education to expand.
The learning matrix, which comprises integrated learning, physical space, and the classroom, is considered while designing the physical spaces. The overarching purpose to create space for curiosity among kids, instructors, and parents alike is conducive to such integrated learning, not just the physical setting.

Philosophy:

At Amatir, the focus is on the child, her unique needs, her unique interest, and her talent. Amatir does not believe in uniformity. To develop the child on the lines of her interest and at a pace that is most suited for her. At Amatir, the idea of education is to offer to the student, to be a guide, and to suggest rather than to ‘teach’ a subject or to be a taskmaster. It only means putting a child in an environment where she begins to learn and ask questions by herself, rather than from outside. We discourage forced learning.
Amatir focuses on the child being self-aware, knowing their talents, which is an ability to be aware of one’s inner personality, of one’s conditioning, what moves them, what conditions and influences them, of one entire being – physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Empowering a girl child is the primary reason why Amatir came into existence.
Amatir intends to make the child independent and self-directed, i.e., not dependent on external conditions; not molded by external influences. An autonomous person has cultivated his understanding of life and people without conditioning and experiences the effects of education and prejudices.
For many generations, education has not served this purpose. At Amatir, we strive to fulfill this human aspiration. Amatir is a school where students engage with themselves, different parts of their being, with the environment in a natural habitat cut away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Amatir feels that these are exciting times as much as they are challenging.

Anant charitable trust, under whose aegis the Amatir was founded in 2002 by a retired electrical engineering professor, MR. B S Nehra, to improve the status of women in the fields of basic education, technical education, and higher education.
Anant established Amatir Kanya Gurukul, a residential and boarding school for girls, in the village of Bachgaon Gamri, Kurukshetra, Haryana, India, in May 2002, with 27 girls from adjacent villages in a three-room cottage that served as a school during the day and a dormitory after school hours.
Since then, the school has expanded significantly, now educating hundreds of girls in classes Pre-Nursery through 10+2 on a 16-acre campus with ever-improving infrastructure and amenities for its students and staff.
It aims to give families and communities that would otherwise be unable to access high-quality education an option, particularly in areas where the majority of pupils come from low-income families.
Amatir boarding schools focus on creating highly individualized, high-quality schools that will strive to foster engagement, innovation, creativity, storytelling, visualization, entrepreneurship, community-ship development, and performance improvement among females.
